Born to a single mother working odd jobs to support both herself and her son, Ace spent most of his childhood moving around, with just his mother for constant company. Despite this, Ace was a happy child who never found it too hard to relate to the kids around him, making temporary friends and participating in all kinds of childhood activities, blissfully unaware of the past his mother was running from.

All of this would of course change when Ace was eight. One night, while living in a rented condo in the middle of nowhere, the semi-religious group his mother had been running from finally caught up to them. Left bleeding from knife wounds on the floor, Ace watched as this cult attempted to burn corruption out of his mother. But as the world went dark and fire raged, Ace heard a voice in the back of his head offering strength, offering healing, offering help.

And the next thing he knew, his mother was holding him in her lap, wrapped in bandages as they hitch-hiked their way back to where it all began - Kaisou.

Ace has been living in Kaisou since then, learning about the paranormal world and the people his mother had been involved with before he was born. He's learned about her tendency to fall into the spirit world, the way the cult believed they were "tainted" because of that, and more than anything else, he was able to finally settle down in one place and really live his life. He graduated high school - barely - and took on odd jobs to help make his mother's life easier over the past few years. However, one day just about a year ago, his mother walked out the door and vanished off the face of the Earth. The police never found anything, and neither has Ace, but he knows his mother is out there, somewhere. And knows just based on her own stories, that somewhere might just be the spirit world he's heard so much about.

But on the way to finding his mother, Ace might just finally discover some things about himself. Like, you know, the fact that the cult might have been a little right about his and his mother's energies being tainted. And... well... the fact that the being who did said tainting might just be the dragon that's been possessing him for the past twelve years. But to figure that out, Ace will have to actually realize he is possessed. He has a long way to go, and that's without throwing memories of a past life into the mix.
